ON Wednesday, STF sleuths arrested four shooters who executed the sensational killing of Irrigation Department Superintending Engineer (SE) Radheyshyam in Roorkee on June 18.

The killers said SE Chaudhary Harpal Singh, posted in Ghazipur district, had orchestrated the killing by paying Rs 28 lakh to jailed gangster Sunil Rathi. The two engineers had clashed over a Rs 250 cr UP government project for connecting the Yamuna with Ganga canal in Haridwar. Radheyshyam had replaced Chaudhary for the project who was sent to Ghazipur. The shooters identified as Akash Tyagi, Amit Verma, Shagun and Samir Alam revealed that they were contacted by Sunil Rathi’s uncle Rajiv and were given Rs 5 lakh to eliminate the engineer. Tyagi and his accomplices had shot dead Radheyshyam at his Roorkee residence on June 18.The accused revealed Chaudhary was close to influential politicians and bureaucrats here and owns several factories.
