At a press conference, convened by municipal commissioner Arvind Singh, lack of coordination among the officials came to the fore. Regarding an inquiry against a nursing home, while Additional Municipal Commissioner Uday Narain Tewari informed the newsmen that the probe had been completed and the report had been handed over to the municipal commissioner, Singh candidly denied it.

He said no such report had been submitted to him by Tewari.

The issue of the absence of deputy municipal commissioner LC Mauyra was also raised by newsmen. Maurya, who is on leave for the past one month, has extended it by another month.

Replying to a question Singh said, “Maurya has to present himself before a medical board for a check-up. An official of this cadre cannot remain on long leave period without valid reasons,” added Singh.

However, a section of KMC officials said that Maurya had gone on leave in protest against no allotment of work to him.

Talking about the KMC strike, Singh said, “Despite all assurances to employees regarding salary payment, the strike has not been called off.” Strike in the last month of the financial year was adversely affecting routine work of KMC.

Therefore, employees must call off the strike so that all pending work could be completed in time, Singh said. Singh said, “A list of the employees who are staging dharna on the office premises is being prepared. If these employees do not return to their duty, they would face action as per the law.”
