KMC chief suspends 4 drivers

IN A surprise inspection, Municipal Commissioner Badal Chatterjee today nabbed drivers of garbage disposal dump of the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) while stealing diesel from the dumping vehicles here today.
After primary investigation, the Municipal Commissioner found four drivers of the garbage dump — Dinesh, Natthu, Ram Mohan and Rajesh — as guilty. All four have been suspended.
Taking serious note of several complaints related to diesel theft, Chatterjee carried out a surprise inspection of the dump in his personal car. The KMC drivers were found guilty of carrying out only one trip for disposal of garbage instead of the three, however, taking diesel for three trips.
The Municipal Commissioner said that diesel was allotted for three trips but drivers of the KMC were carrying out only one trip for garbage disposal.
The computerized weight centre authorised for the job of weighing the truckloads of garbage by the KMC were also found hand-in-glove with the drivers.
As per the norms of KMC, each truck -load of garbage had to be duly weighed at the authorised weight centre. The proprietor of the centre was found guilty of registering three trips of trucks instead of the actual one trip.
