L&T bags order worth Rs 1,245 cr from Bhutan

Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro on Wednesday said it has received a contract worth Rs 1,245 crore for construction-related works at the Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric project in Bhutan.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange L&T said, it has bagged a contract of Rs 1,245 crore for the construction of the Dam Package, as part of the 1,200 MW Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project.
The project is being set up by the Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project Authority, which has been constituted through an agreement between the Government of India and Bhutan. It is located across Punatsangchhu River, about 80 km from Bhutan’s capital Thimpu, the filing added.
Further, L&T said the project would be executed by its Construction Division. The project is scheduled to be completed in 66 months. This is the first of a series of 10 hydro power projects jointly identified by the governments of India and Bhutan and to be implemented for a total installed capacity of 11,576 MW by 2020, it added.
Shares of the L&T were trading at Rs 677.05, up 0.65 per cent on the BSE.
