Lack of commitment leads to indiscipline: Rajnath
Party's priority should be to be more resolved in its ideological commitment, discipline and public behaviour: Rajnath.india Updated: Dec 31, 2005 17:32 IST
Maintaining that lack of ideological commitment leads to indiscipline, President-elect of BJP Rajnath Singh said on Saturday the party's priority should be to be more resolved in its ideological commitment, discipline and public behaviour.
"It is unfortunate. Some negative environment has been created. Now we have to be more cautious. We should be more resolved in our ideological commitment, discipline and public behaviour. This should be our priority", he said in an interview to RSS mouthpiece Organiser when pointed out that the BJP has been in the news for wrong reasons in the last few months.
While maintaining there was no infighting in the party, he said, "I am confident that discipline will definitely be restored. We cannot impose discipline by force. Workers should be more committed to ideology. Lack of ideological commitment leads to indiscipline. The two issues are co-related."
Asked whether the party has not been able to reach out to the minorities due to its ideology, he replied in the negative and said, "But I think we have to define our ideology clearly. Our ideology is perfect in itself. It greatly appeals to the common man".
"Ideology plays a very important role...Our foremost task is to widen our base and refurbish the faith of the people in the party. Cultural nationalism and integral humanism are the basis of the BJP. India's unity is not only based on politics but also the cultural aspects. Hindutva and cultural nationalsim have a common basis. Hindutva never creates confrontation among human beings", he asserted.
