Lalu to inaugurate gauge conversion today

RAILWAY MINISTER Lalu Prasad Yadav will inaugurate the gauge conversion work on the rail track from Kanpur to Anwarganj and Farrukhabad in Kanpur on Friday.

RAILWAY MINISTER Lalu Prasad Yadav will inaugurate the gauge conversion work on the rail track from Kanpur to Anwarganj and Farrukhabad in Kanpur on Friday.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal will preside over the programme. Members of Parliament Arun Shourie, Chandrabhushan Singh, Akhilesh Yadav and Radheshyam Kori, MLAs Sanjeev Dariyabadi, Ajay Kapoor, Vijay Singh, Louis Khursheed, Premkata Katiyar and MLC Jagendra Swaroop will also participate in the programme.

According to the CPRO, NE Railway, Manoj Singh, the ministry has granted Rs 658.11 crore for the conversion work. In the first phase, conversion work between Kanpur and Farrukhabad will be carried out at a cost of Rs 139.42 crore. The distance between Anwarganj and Farrukhabad was 138 km, he added.
