Sri Lankan naval personnel have assaulted some fishermen who were fishing off Rameswaram coast and snatched their "catch worth several thousand rupees", official sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the fishermen, who were fishing in 60 mechanised boats on Monday night, were accosted by Sri Lankan naval personnel who assaulted them before snatching their catch which included sea crabs and prawns.
The fisheries department has registered a case.
Meanwhile, 81 Sri Lankan tamil refugees belonging to 20 families, including 35 women, arrived at Dhanushkodi early this morning. They were later shifted to the Mandapam camp near Rameswaram, the sources said.
