Lecture on bird flu held

A PUBLIC interest lecture on bird flu was organised for students at the Regional Science Centre here today. Dr Tushar Lokhande, a specialist in bird-related diseases at the State Cattle Diseases Laboratory, delivered the lecture.

According to a press release, Dr Lokhande explained the reasons behind the origin and proliferation of the disease and the precautionary measures to be taken to stop the spread of the flu.

He also apprised the students of the possible effects of the avian influenza on humans and spoke about the ways in which infected birds should be disposed to check the spread of the disease.
