CPM, CPI, RSP, Forward Bloc and Socialist Front have decided to oppose the visit of US President George Bush. They have also demanded an independent foreign policy from the UPA Government.
Talking to newspersons here on Monday, senior trade union leader Arvind Raj Swaroop lambasted the UPA Government for towing a policy dictated by USA.
“The forthcoming visit of George Bush is aimed at further pressuring the Indian government,” stated Swaroop. This had already been proved by the statements given by US ambassador David Mulford recently, added Swaroop. Also present on the occasion senior CITU leader Arvind Kumar said, “As per the agreements under the Common Minimum Program, the UPA government must formulate a independent foreign policy devoid of any American interference.”
Rubber employees to stage demo
MEMBERS of Rubber Industries Employee Union will stage a demonstration in front of the Vidhan Sabha on February 16.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Employee Union headed by Lal Bahadur Tiwari in the office of CITU at Raipurwa here on Monday. Anti-labor policy of the State Government and exploitations of laborers by the management were severly criticized in the meeting. The leaders of the union will also meet the Chief Minister. Minimum salary of Rs 3500, illegal termination of labourers and implementation of the Labour laws are the main demands of the employees.
