Leopard kills six-year-old in Chamoli

A six-year-old girl was killed by a leopard in Gairsain tehsil of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, official sources said in Dehradun.
Suman was standing outside her home in Kalchunda village on Saturday when she was attacked by the man-eater and dragged into a nearby Jungle.
Hearing her cries, villagers raised an alarm and rushed after her but could not save the child. They recovered her half-eaten body from inside the jungle.
Incidents of leopard attacks are quite common during winters, which is considered as the breeding season for the wildcats.
According to official statistics, nearly two dozen people have lost their lives in such incidents this year alone.
