If the National Commission for Women accepts a radical proposal from a Rajasthan Legal Services Authority, all married Indian men (even the NRI variety) will have to procure a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their wives to leave the shores of the country.

The legal authority has urged the NCW to work for introducing a provision in passport laws that bars husbands from making a foreign trip without the consent of their better halfs.

If such a provision is made mandatory, it would help make it difficult for the husbands to dump their wives after settling abroad.
