Lighting candles for victims? peace

A NUMBER of students of the Central Tibetan Institute for Higher Studies, Buddhist monks and some foreigners lit candles and diyas at Mulgandh Kuti Vihar in Sarnath on Tuesday evening to pray for peace to the souls of the victims of the devastating fire which broke out at the consumer fair in Meerut on Monday.

A NUMBER of students of the Central Tibetan Institute for Higher Studies, Buddhist monks and some foreigners lit candles and diyas at Mulgandh Kuti Vihar in Sarnath on Tuesday evening to pray for peace to the souls of the victims of the devastating fire which broke out at the consumer fair in Meerut on Monday.

About 11,000 candles were lit at the premises of Mulgandh Kuti Vihar and the students, Buddhist monks and foreigners prayed to Lord Budha for peace to the departed souls. They also recited ‘Trisharan’, ‘Chotpad’, ‘Arya Pranidhan Raj Sutra’, ‘Trastrot’ etc.

The prayer meeting continued for two hours from 5 pm to 8 pm.

A special prayer was also organised to dissuade people of Aligarh from communal tension and also for world peace.

Prominent among those who participated in the peace meeting were LL Shashtri, Lakpa Chering, Sonam Pangdon, Yeshu Vangdu, Sonam Chiphole, Rinchen Chenten etc.

Similarly, a social organization ‘Prerna’, also organised a programme of ‘deepdan’ at Chauk area on Tuesday evening for peace to the souls of victims of Meerut’s fire incident.
