According to information, KESCo’s linemen including Mukeem, Dinesh, and Ayub along with other staff members from the Latouche substation, went to remove illegal connections from a LT box located near a water tank, Cheena Park.

However, when the staff was snapping illegal connections from the LT box, some miscreants gheraoed the KESCo employees. They raised objections over removal of illegal connections and forced KESCo employees to restore all the connections, which they had snapped. But when the KESCo officials refused to do so, one of the miscreants took out a country-made pistol and forced head lineman Mukeem to re-connect all the illegal connections, which were snapped by them. Mukeem ordered his staff to re-connect all the illegal connections, which were snapped.

“After receiving complaint from the locals we went to snap all illegal connections from the LT box,” Mukeem said. “But while we were doing our work some miscreants forced us at gunpoint to re-connect all the illegal connections we had disconnected,” Mukeem added.

Meanwhile, KESCo employees were also assaulted by the miscreants and lineman Mukeem and Dinesh received injuries. “If this continues then it would not be possible for us to work,” Mukeem said. He also demanded police security for the KESCo employees.

When contacted assistant engineer of the Latouche substation AK Srivastav feigned ignorance about the incident, but later he said, “Efforts will be made after consultation with the senior officials of the KESCo to lodge an FIR.”

General manager MP Tripathi said, “It a serious offense and after investigation, an FIR will be lodged.”
