Lloyd appointed manager of WI team

Besides, Barbados coach Hendy Springer will join West Indies team as a temporary assistant coach to Bennett King for the India series.

Former captain Clive Lloyd has been appointed manager of the West Indies cricket team during its tour of India for the four-match one-day international series starting on Sunday.

Lloyd, chairman of West Indies Cricket Board's cricket committee, had travelled with the squad as an adviser for the Champions Trophy in October. He will succeed Tony Howard, who has been appointed WICB's chief cricket operations officer.

Besides, Barbados coach Hendy Springer will join West Indies as a temporary assistant coach to Bennett King, WICB cricket operations officer Derrick Nicholas said.

King's regular deputy, David Moore, was not available for the one-day series against India, starting in Nagpur on January 21.

The West Indies team leaves for the tour from Antigua on Wednesday.
