Rao suffered heart stroke last night and he breathed his last while being shifted to a hospital, Lok Satta sources said today.

Rao was brought to Hyderabad from his native Vijayawada over a month ago after he suffered a fracture due to a fall and he had been staying with his second son in Erramanzil Colony here.

Rao's body was taken to Vijayawada, where funeral would take place later in the day, the sources said.

Wife and three sons among whom Narayan is the eldest survive him.
