Union minister for parliamentary affairs Kamal Nath on Friday urged the media to help arrest the declining social and political values of society.
The Union minister was speaking at a symposium, Role of Politics and Media in the Welfare of Common Man, organised to mark the launch of Lokmat Media’s Hindi edition Lokmat Samachar from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh.
Lokmat Samachar is a Nagpur-based Hindi daily with editions in Nagpur, Pune, Akola, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and Jalgaon. Chhindwara is the seventh edition in its quiver.
Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, who also addressed the gathering, praised the role of the media during the state government’s relief work for the drought-affected people of Maharashtra, while BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad spoke on the role of political parties and media in the development of the masses.
Maharashtra school education minister Rajendra Darda and Lokmat chairman Vijay Darda were also present.
