Shraddha Nigam, known for her roles in many popular TV serials is currently shooting in Dubai for a Pakistani serial.india Updated: Jan 25, 2006 11:11 IST
She is one among the most versatile television actresses, Indian television has ever had.
Riding high with her international venture with Vic Sareen’s Hollywood venture titled The Partition, Shraddha Nigam, who has played various characters like that of mentally challenged girl in Chudiyaan, the lady detective (cartoonist) in (Krishna Sharma C A) KrishnaArjun – the desi version of Remington Steele, to the typical Indian girl in Saathiya to the seductive looking pretty girl in Dekho Magar Pyar Se (second season), not forgetting anchoring show like Kuch Kar Dikhana Hai – is currently shooting in Dubai for a Pakistani serial.
Excited about the development in her career, which is going great guns, the pretty actress says over telephone, “I am really having a wonderful time in Dubai. And even though I had a hectic schedule after shooting in Mumbai for Darna Mana Hai, I am really enjoying to be in Pakistani serial titled Kabhi Na Kabhi.”
Shraddha is also hosting a talent hunt show called Kalakaarz on DD with her best friend Hussain. When we ask as to how she bagged this Pakistani serial, she hurries ecstatically saying, “Recently I went to London for vacation and work. I have fixed an agent there, who has been circulating my pictures and I was contacted to play the lead character Alina. It is a light-hearted young love story of three sisters.
Tina Parekh plays my other sister and a model plays the third sister from Pakistan named Zenab Qayum. The character of Alina is very beautiful as she is a rich yet a very sweet spoilt brat, who lives in Dubai. For now, I can say only this much, more when I am back in Mumbai in February (she cuts the phone as she heads for her shooting call).”
Shraddha Nigam has been playing various characters with great aplomb in various serials. With the development in her career, the girl has been winning heart across the border as well.
One must be reminded that she had given a brilliant performance in internationally acclaimed film Yatharta – The Truth and was well appreciated in various festivals abroad. With more and more Indian stars going international, what does she feel to be a part of such a project?
She smiles and says, “You know, when I started modelling and acting on TV, I realised there has to be something (kuch toh hai hum me nahin toh itni door nahin aa paati main) in me and so I became one of the known faces in India.
I have modelled, done South and Hindi films and am a known TV face now, even in Pakistan now (raising her eyebrows with a smile) even though I am not an Aishwarya Rai (laughs).
Can you believe it (laughing with excitement)? When you become a part of an international project, you start believing more in your talent and craft. And yes, if you see my career – I have always played various characters in various kind of serial. It really feels good man!” No wonder, the girl has come a real long way from her Chudiyaan days.
