As unbelievable as it may sound but two lovers were allegedly proven guilty by the girl's father sitting as judge and his friends and family members sitting as the jury.
The young couple was treated by own family for violating Indian traditions "which prohibits love-making and pre-martial sex of any kind."
The incident took place in Kannauj district in Nekpur. A case has been registered against the five family members for murdering two people in love.
It is learnt that Mahesh Chandra Yadav's 20-year-old daughter, Reena, had fallen in love with Avdesh Kumar Yadav. While the girl was studying in first year of Devanshu Degree College, the boy, Avdesh Kumar, was in his third year of graduation.
An year ago the two fell in love and had plans to get married but Reena's father, an ex-armyman, was dead against their love affair. Taking advantage of his army background and contacts, he got her daughter's boyfriend arrested.
The youth was then produced before a "home-made" court with Reena's dad judging the case. When the father specifically asked the boy whether he had sex with his daughter or not, the boy denied. But the father was not prepared to believe him so easily.
The boy was whipped badly for not speaking the truth and eventually the couple was hanged till death.
A case under sections 247, 323, and 302 has been registered against the family members.
