A 55-year-old woman died after a youth allegedly set her ablaze as she scolded him for chasing her daughter in Atrauli village in Lucknow, police said on Thursday.
A 55-year-old woman died after a youth allegedly set her ablaze as she scolded him for chasing her daughter in Atrauli village in Lucknow, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Tuesday when the deceased, Jagawati was cooking in her house and the 25-year-old accused identified as Rafeeq, climbed to the roof and threw petrol on her due to which she caught fire, police said.
The woman was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition, where she died during treatment yesterday, they said. An FIR was lodged in this regard by the victim's son, following which the accused was arrested.
The incident was stated to be a fallout of one-sided love of the accused with victim's daughter who had been turning down his proposal for last two years, they said.
