An AIADMK ward councillor was reportedly hacked to death on Sunday night in Madurai, police said.
Vijayaraghavan (42), councillor of the city’s 51st ward, was sitting in his friend’s shop when he was attacked by two people armed with sickles and knives.
He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared death.
Police said the motive for the murder was unclear.
