The demand was raised at the morcha office-bearers meeting held at the party headquarters on Wednesday. The State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki, who seemed to be expecting the demand promptly replied that the party would take into consideration the winability factor while selecting the candidates for these two prestigious seats.
According to sources, at least three woman leaders were in sight for the morcha office-bearers- chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s wife Sadhna Singh, Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur’s daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur and Morcha state treasurer and local worker from Bada Malehra Lalita Yadav.
However, no names were mentioned at the meeting. The meeting also demanded increased share for the women in appointments at the corporations and the boards.
Kaptan Singh Solanki had something to offer to the women activists. He said at the local committees at least one woman from each polling booth would get representation.
He exhorted the woman activists to take part in vikas yatra, vikas shivir and vikas parv to be organised from the month of November to propagate the government’s achievements.
The Mahila morcha state president Anju Makheeja said the morcha would organise programmes at the state and district level to observe the birth anniversary of late Vijayaraje Scindia, November 19 as Veerangana Diwas to mark Rani Laxmibai jayanti and former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday on December 25.
Those who attended the meeting include Sarita Deshpande, Sushma Jain, Seema Singh, Krishna Gaur, Mamta Borse, Shashi Sinho, Lalita Yadav, Asha Jain and Arti Agarwal.
