A major fire in city's busy Main Road area caused an LPG cylinder blast and damaged several shops and old houses.

A major fire in city's busy Main Road area caused an LPG cylinder blast and damaged several shops and old houses on Monday, fire brigade sources said.

One person was injured in the fire which was first noticed in a godown of tyres and tubes, the sources said, adding the injured was hospitalised.

Fire-fighting tenders were engaged to put out the blaze and the reason of the fire was being ascertained.
