Acceptance — You must accept people around you as they are, without trying to change them. When you remember how hard it is to change yourself, you begin to understand that there is little chance of changing others.

Approval — When you acknowledge the presence of each and everyone around you either by way of eye contact or some sort of verbal communication, it becomes the next logical step towards your success in dealing with others. Approval has a more positive meaning when you start accepting people as they are and look for their positive qualities as well as developing a tolerant attitude towards their weaknesses.

Appreciation — Thank people for their presence and their contributions at appropriate times to convey your appreciation of their efforts. Treat each individual as someone special. While appreciating somebody you must address the individual by name.

Your appreciation of the person should be timely and specific. For example — If you have attended a dinner party, make sure that you acknowledge the host and convey very specific appreciation, like having enjoyed the tasty chicken dish that was served. If your Boss has made a presentation, make sure you appreciate it immediately and point out specific observations/comments made by him.

The most important tip in human relations is to eliminate words like 'I' 'Me' and 'Mine and replace them with 'You' 'Yours' and 'Yourself'. Many successful managers use 'I' and if used frequently, it has a demoralising impact on the staff as it takes away the feeling of working for the company as a team.

Make conscious effort to appreciate good qualities in other people. If you make small generous and kind statements to people around you then it automatically releases positive energy and reduces your stress level.

Many times people are reluctant to praise successful and famous persons. However, please remember that even successful and famous persons need to be appreciated. What makes these people really successful is that they also acknowledge other person’s importance with full courtesy and politeness.

While dealing with others, you should always remember that you cannot change people. One can only change one's attitude towards a person. For example — it is impossible to change your boss's working style, or that of a close family member. But if you change your attitude of looking towards them, that is develop tolerance, then you are likely to develop a more successful relationship.

Ninety percent people fail in life due to their failure to deal successfully with people. Eighty five per cent of your success and happiness in business/professional life depends on your ability to deal with other people. In personal life, if you have good ability to deal with other people, chances of your success and happiness are 99 per cent.

Every person you interact with feels happy when he is made to feel important. When you give importance to others, their views and opinions, they respond in a more positive manner thereby making for a good relationship.
