According to police, Poonam Chand, 43, a resident of Chopra village in Sukhi Sewania, had a row with his brother Mangilal over ancestral land. Their father Khushilal had recently divided his land between his sons and reportedly given more property to Mangilal.

This was the bone of contention and the brothers had several fights in the last few months. However, on September 30 both had argument and later Mangilal and his sons beat up Poonam Chand.

The latter fell unconscious and was admitted to hospital where he died on Thursday. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the police have registered a case of murder. The Sukhi Sewania police are investigating the case.
