Those suspended included CM Arya, Shiv Prasad, BP Mishra, CN Yadav and Sanjay Kumar Srivastav. The post-mortem report of the deceased also indicated that he was tortured. He bore serious injuries in the head and in the eye.

However, Government Railway Police was yet to make any arrests in the case.

According to reports, Saini Ram (60), a resident of Belahi village under Pandaur police station of Madhubani district in Bihar was traveling with his son Rajkumar Ram by 5002 Dehradun Express on Sunday evening. As the train left Gorakhpur Cantt Railway station, a TTE entered the general compartment coach number 98565 and started checking tickets.

When Saini Ram showed his ticket, the TTE said the ticket was fake and he was not entitled to travel in the train.

He asked Saini to pay the penalty. When Saini refused to do so, the TTE manhandled him and used abusive language against him.

According to reports, Saini fell unconscious and died in the compartment.

Judging the enormity of the situation, the TTE changed his officials dress and escaped from the scene. Meanwhile, Saini’s son Rajkumar and other passengers informed the station master at Captainganj who passed the message to the GRP and the body was taken into custody.

On Rajkumar’s application, the GRP lodged a case against the TTE under section 304 IPC, but no arrest had been made till the filing of the report.

Meanwhile, an inquiry has been set up into the case.
