The city police arrested a man working with a city-based company for allegedly concocting a story of being robbed of Rs 1,50,000 by two motorcycle-borne youth on Saturday.
The man called up the police control room and informed them about the robbery. However, investigations revealed that the man himself was the culprit.
According to information, Vinod Kumar (25), working with ‘Spic N Span’ company — dealing in domestic help services —was going to TCS to deliver the salaries of electricians and plumbers.
Kumar called up the police control room around 3pm saying he had been robbed of Rs 1,50,000 by two motorcycle-borne youth on the HSIDC Road.
“I inquired from area shopkeepers. Nobody was aware about the incident. The man’s body did not bear any scratches,” said SHO Satinder Singh.
“We interrogated the man and he confessed to have taken the bag to his friend’s place in Sukhrali village, where he used to stay as a paying guest,” added Singh. The amount was recovered from the house of one Parvesh Singh, Kumar’s friend.
Kumar is an MBA in finance and had got married last month.
His wife is working with PNB Bank and Kumar was also trying to get the post of probation officer in the bank. “I needed money and thought this was an easy way,” said Kumar.
Abhay Rao, DCP (headquarter), Gurgaon said, “Such incidents are being reported quite often”.
Meanwhile, company officials said they did not want to initiate action against Kumar.
