The culprit was identified as Harendra Kumar, originally from Mau district in Uttar Pradesh and presently a resident of Mitha Kuan area of Arthala in Ghaziabad. Within seconds of the incident, Harendra was nabbed by police and whisked away to Kavi Nagar police station. There, the man told police officials that he was annoyed with the authorities who have not taken heed to his repeated complaints.
“I have a piece of land at my native place and it was grabbed by some influential man. I approached the police and other authorities several times but no one heard my complaints. I hurled the slipper so that someone would listen to me as my family is suffering,” Harendra reportedly told the police.
“We have detained him. He said he wanted to send a message. There is some land grabbing issue he wanted to resolve,” Kavi Nagar station officer Arun Kumar Singh told HT.
