The reason: the stock market bear has mauled her husband so badly that she couldn’t find a way out of the misery.

Kinjalben’s husband, Shailesh Shah, lost a huge amount of money, mostly borrowed, in the stock market and has been facing hardship and humiliation from his creditors. His creditors were getting nasty, asking him to pay up.

The harassment and humiliation proved to be too much for her and Kinjal ended her life in the bedroom of their house in the Jivraj Park area in south Ahmedabad. Shailesh found her body when he returned home later.

According to police sources, Kinjalben left a letter for her husband, asking him to sell off her jewellery to pay back the loans.

Kinjalben’s is the first market crash-related suicide in Gujarat this year.
