Manage the mess

Our work terminal is more like our second home. And when we call it a home, we become a little lenient with the way we place our things. Therefore, the clutter somehow becomes an inseparable part of workstation. Here are a few ways to keep your working area spic and span.

Do away with the notes: Stop using post-it notes to remind you of important information. They’re easy to lose and look ugly when plastered over the monitor.
Say no to free stationery: It’s hard to resist freebies at conferences and office events, but avoid taking them just because they are free.
Take your books home: Take home books you don’t use on a regular basis at work.
Eat away from desk: Eating at desk means trash like paper bags, cups, and utensils stick around your desk. To prevent this, eat in the canteen. Doing this also allows you a mental break from work.
Let pictures be in frames: Limit the number of pictures on your desk. It will free space for other needed items and will make your desk look neat.
A little deck-up will do: You can decorate your desk with nice, funky decor items in some corners along with the basics as pen stand, beautiful paper weights, some family pictures etc.
Have a clean-up time: Select a time during the day to clean your desk. This will free up your work station from unsightly clutter.
