Ram Pratap, 27, and his senior manager Dheeraj Chaddha were drinking in the car at sector-10 market during which the latter asked Pratap to drive his Wagon-R car.

“When he refused, Chaddha, under the influence of alcohol, shot at him with a country-made weapon. The bullet hit the victim in his back,” said Vijay Kumar, the Kavi Nagar station officer.

The victim, bleeding profusely, ran towards a private hospital and was rushed to the ICU for an operation.

“The bullet got lodged near his spine area. He was operated upon and the bullet was removed,” said doctors at the hospital.

Victim’s brother Dushyant Kumar alleged that the two colleagues had had disagreements over some official matters about one-and-half months ago. He said that his brother had been working hard to surpass his manager with a promotion.

“This perturbed his manager who had not been at ease with him for some time. Ram used to frequently tell us about the disputes with his senior manager,” Kumar said.

Police said that Chaddha was later arrested and booked under attempt-to-murder charges. “He wanted to assert his supremacy over his junior and asked him to drive his car, which the victim refused to do,” the Kavi Nagar station officer said.

Pratap was stated to be out of danger after his operation in a private hospital in Raj Nagar.
