Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday hailed Congress president Sonia Gandhi's decision to quit her parliament seat, saying it displayed "a rare commitment to moral values".

"She is the country's tallest leader and has a rare commitment to moral values which you don't find in plenty in our country," the prime minister told reporters.

Responding to a question, he said all options were open on the issue of promulgating an ordinance to redefine an office of profit, an issue on which Sonia Gandhi also stepped down as the National Advisory Council chair.

"There is no explicit decision as of now (on the ordinance). We have not considered the ordinance. All options are open. We will discuss it with other political parties," Manmohan Singh said.
