Majority of shops and markets in Maoist-hit pockets of the district including Dumaria, Bodam, Potka remained closed and life in and around the steel city here remained unaffected, the police said.
Sub-divisional police officer (Ghatsila), Anup Birheray said no untoward incident was reported.
The district administration made elaborate security arrangements in the district.
Maoists gave the bandh call in protest against the increasing price rise, proposed Green Hunt Operation against the ultras in Jharkhand and worsening law and order situation in the district.
