"The body was confirmed to be of Munda," Sub-Divisonal Police Officer (SDPO), Bonai Sundershan Sethi said.

The Maoists had left behind a poster claiming that the 40-year-old Munda was a 'police informer' and had had been given the 'death sentence'.

Family members of Munda who stayed in Toda had appealed to the Maoists through the media to set him free as they had earlier released three others -- Ananda Masi Horo, Harinath Munda and his brother, Narendra Munda after their abduction.
