The police said the bullet-riddled body of 50-year-old Ganesh Murmu was found lying on the road with Maoist posters strewn beside it.

A group of 20 armed Maoist guerrillas had called Murmu from his home at Jaynagar village last night and he was shot from close range outside the forested village, the police said.

The posters claimed that Murmu was a police informer and CPI-M goon, the police said.

Meanwhile, the Maoist-backed People's Committee Against Police Atrocity has given a call for bandh on July 7 and 8 in Jungle Mahal area comprising Bankura, West Midnapore and Purulia districts of West Bengal.
