The defending champion in 100m will be trying to defend the event successfully and become the first repeat champion in Olympic track's since Carl Lewis in 1984 and '88.

After a lean period Greene reestablished himself as a force to reckon when he set a US Olympic track and field trials record with a time of 9.91 seconds in the men's 100-meter at Sacramento.

The world's dominant sprinter from 1997 till 2001, Greene won 100m World Championships in 1997, '99 and '01, tying Lewis as the only male three-time winners.
After 2001Greene struggled as his results included two fifths, two sixths and the slowest 100m time of his professional career (10.56) in 2002.

But his comeback certainly brightens the prospects of United States in the 100m at Athens.
