The state government has announced a judicial inquiry in the firing that killed three persons in Maval on August 9.

Karnik on Monday wrote to director general of police Ajit Parasnis seeking transfer to ensure fair probe. However, it is not clear whether the office of the director general has approved the application.

The home ministry has already suspended eight officials – six constables, a police inspector and one sub-inspector — in the case.
