Talking to newspersons, Sonkar accused Mayawati of using Dalits just as a vote bank, without being concerned about their welfare. “For Mayawati, Dalits are just like a ‘use and throw’ commodity and therefore, she was never concerned about their welfare,” Sonkar said.

Replying to a query, Sonkar said, “All statements issued by Mayawati are fake and she can never be trusted.”

Earlier, Mayawati was spewing fire and brimstone at members of the upper caste, particularly Brahmins.

Now, she was leaving no stone unturned to woo members of the upper caste, Sonkar added. On Mayawati’s newfound love for members of the upper caste, Sonkar pointed out that Mayawati had never given party tickets to any member of the upper caste from its traditional seats.

“Members of the upper caste are only given BSP ticket from those seats on which there is no possibility of a Dalit winning the election,” Sonkar pointed out.

He further pointed out that it was because of the BJP that Mayawati was able to get the chief minister’s chair. But now she would never be able to become CM again, he asserted.

On the increasing acceptability of BSP among Dalits and efforts being made by BJP to woo them, Sonkar stated that the party had already launched a campaign to woo Dalits into the party fold.

“The result of this campaign will be clearly visible in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections,” Sonkar remarked. Commenting on the forthcoming elections, Sonkar asserted that BJP would be able to get 25 per cent votes of Dalit community.

He also informed that the party would convene a State-level conference of Dalits in the State Capital on September 24.

Later, Sonkar presided over a party meeting at Circuit House.

Problems of party workers and preparations being made for the coming Vidhan Sabha elections were discussed in detail.
