"The Central and the state governments should discuss the matter and adopt a middle path to find a solution to the demands of the Gujjars," she told a press conference in Lucknow.

She said the agitation in Rajasthan was "fast spreading" to other parts of the country and it may lead to a law and order problem. Mayawati also appealed to the Gujjars in Uttar Pradesh to put the demands of the community in a peaceful manner.
