"Mayawati always makes the district authorities work on the lines of her party (Bahujan Samaj Party). She is doing the same this time," Ajit Singh told reporters in Baghpat, where polling was underway Thursday.

The RLD chief and former union minister said he was confident of his win because of the relationship he shared with the voters in Baghpat, about 400 km from here.

"My rapport with the voters will ensure my victory," said Ajit Singh, the sitting MP from Baghpat.
