Municipal Corporation of Delhi demolished portions of an under-construction building on Saturday, which had been constructed without requisite sanction, in Karol Bagh area of New Delhi.

Property number 8/6 WEA Karol Bagh, which had a plan sanction for residential apartments with a provision for shops on the ground floor was demolished as the owners were trying to build it into a guest house, MCD officials said.
Construction work on the building had stopped in February, but as per provisions of the Delhi Special Laws Act as work had been going on after January 1, 2006, the demolition action was carried out, the officials said.
The demolition was carried out using high-tech equipment like excavators and loaders from the disaster management department.
