MCD schools go for insurance scheme

As part of its social security measures, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi proposes to start an accident insurance scheme for children studying in its schools in the Capital.

As part of its social security measures, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) proposes to start an accident insurance scheme for children studying in its schools in the Capital.

Under the proposed scheme, the MCD will provide Rs 25,000 to the next of kin of a school child in case of his accidental death or permanent disability, Rs 5,000 in case of the child's hospitalisation with a major injury and Rs 500 in case of a minor injury.

The MCD also proposes to train all its teachers and students in disaster management to ensure the safety of the children in case of natural calamities like earthquake or fire striking.
