Meanwhile, the strike and the consequent poor attendance of junior doctors in the LLR hospital led to death of two patients in the intensive care unit near ward no. 100 of the hospital. Senior doctors, however, claimed that the condition of the patients who died on Wednesday had been critical and that they were on life support system.

For the first time, medicos in a large number on Wednesday moved to the associate hospitals of the GSVM medical college and forcibly closed the out patients departments in the Cardiology and Murari Lal Chest hospital. Medicos also appeared annoyed with the college administration and shouted slogans. The medicos appeared divided, with one group being considered pro-principal favouring running emergency wards of all associate hospitals while the other group demanding virtual closure of all activities in the medical college till all their demands were excepted by the authorities.

Interestingly, the EMO present in the Emergency of the LLR hospital disappeared from his seat on seeing the large number of medicos coming towards the emergency section.

Sources in the medical college said the basic reason behind the divide was a so-called student leader, considered close to the principal, having become the unofficial spokesperson of the striking doctors and taking decisions as per instructions from the administration. Post Graduate students, according to sources, were annoyed and on Tuesday night decided to declare a Junior Doctor Association president with consensus, who would henceforth be the official spokesperson of the medicos in future proceedings.
