Meet on water from tomorrow

A TWO-DAY national convention on water will be organised in Varanasi on June 30 and July 1. The objective of the meet is to give a thrust to water-related movement in the country.

Talking to media persons, here on Wednesday, president of the Sanjha Sanskriti Manch, Father Anand said this national level convention, ‘Concept of development and war for water’, would be organised under the joint auspices of Lok Samiti and National Alliance of Public Movement (NAPM).

He said renowned social worker and activist of the Narmada Bachchao Movement (NBM) Medha Patekar would be a key speaker at the convention. Father Anand said the convention would be held at SSU on June 30 while on July 1, a similar type of convention would be held in front of the Mehdiganj based bottling plant of MNC Coca-Cola company where a three-month long movement against the bottling plant was already on progress.

He added on the second day of the convention, ‘Shram-dan’ would be convened at two ponds in Negapur and Mehdiganj village. Chanchal Mukharjee, state coordinator of NAPM, and Aflatoon of Samajwadi Jan Parishad were also present.
