Agriculture Ministry sources said the meeting has been postponed due to "unavoidable" reasons and the fresh date would be announced later.

They said the meeting, to be chaired by new Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh, is now likely to be held sometime early next month, as part of the stock taking exercise to prepare for any scarcity of water in the upcoming kharif season in the light of last year's drought.

Also to be attended by members of Parliamentary Consultative Committee of Agriculture Ministry, the meeting will take up the likely relief measures and preparation needed for the purpose in general and not the financial requirement of the states.
