Meeting zameen par
Aamir Khan, who takes an active interest in the marketing and distribution of his films called for a meeting recently with the Indian Film Company/Studio 18 and Adlabs, the film's domestic and international distributors.
The agenda was to arrive at a suitable release date and for the two distributors to meet one another across a common platform.
According to a trade source, "Aamir would have preferred one distributor to release and exploit the films worldwide, which is the norm for big movies these days. Studio 18 has had a good run recently with Jab We Met and Welcome. They would have been the obvious choice but the Adlabs deal was locked long back."
It is learnt from trade circles that neither distributor is happy about the situation, but whether it can and will be resolved remains to be seen.
The Khan movie is a remake of a Tamil hit, features Khan with Asin and Jiah Khan. The original itself is believed to have been inspired by Hollywood's brainscrambler Memento.
Ghajini will be the big Eid release in October 2008.
