Mild earthquake shakes Kashmir

As per a met official, an earthquake of slight intensity, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, hit the state at 11.15 am.

A mild tremor shook parts of the Kashmir Valley Sunday, causing panic.

"An earthquake of slight intensity, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 11.15 a.m.," said Mohinder Singh, an officer at the weather office in Srinagar.

The epicentre, according to Singh, was somewhere in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. "No loss of life or property has been reported," Singh added.

According to reports reaching in Srinagar, people in the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian in south Kashmir panicked and ran out of their homes.

People in north Kashmir areas of Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara districts did not feel the shock.
