The ultras lobbed the grenade at the house of former Manipur Police Service (MPS) officer N Sudhir at Khagempali area near in Imphal on Tuesday destroying a Maruti car and some household items. However, no one was injured in the attack, police said, adding that Sudhir and his family members were present at their residence at the time of the incident.
Police said motive behind the crime was still not known.
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the crime.
Meanwhile, Sudhir told local media that he had not received any threat or monetary demand from any militant outfit.
In another incident yesterday, security personnel recovered a powerful bomb planted by militants at a road side in Upokpi in Bishenpur district.
