Mind against body

Criticism, resentment and guilt are some of the most dangerous negative patterns.

“Life Comes from the mind,” say the scriptures. But till a foreigner comes out with proper data, we refuse to believe it.

Louis L. Hay has documented mental causes and remedies for each and every disease after an in-depth study. Here’s an example. A lady had intense pain in her knees. When told that she must be criticising her son and daughter-in-law too much, she was totally stupefied. After some time, she came back and said: “Doctor Sahib, mainnu kuj gur hor dey jao (Give me some more secrets).” I said: “Pehleis gur ko sambhalo. Baaki phir dekhenge (handle this first).”

The fact is, while we avoid toxins through food or water we’re oblivious to when we let dangerous poison into our minds. Criticism, anger, resentment and guilt are some of the most dangerous negative patterns. For instance, indulging in criticism for a long time often leads to diseases like arthritis. Long-held resentment festers and eats away at the self and can lead to tumours and cancer. Guilt always seeks punishment and leads to pain.

The good news is that we can choose to take part in our own healing process. It does not matter how long we sustain negativity, illness, a troubling relationship or financial worries, we can bring a change from today.

Mental causes for some diseases are interesting.
Lower back pain: fear of poor financial condition.
High blood pressure: longstanding emotional problems.
Headache: self-criticism, fear.
Heart problem: longstanding emotional problems, lack of joy, stress and strain. Knee problem: Stubborn mentality, inability to adjust.
Neck problem: refusing to see other sides of a question.
Thyroid: humiliation.
Tumour: Nursing old hurts and shocks.
Ulcer: fear that you are not good enough.
Diabetes: Longing for what might have been, deep sorrow.
Fibroid, tumour and cyst: Nursing a hurt from a partner; a blow to the feminine ego.

Best cure for most of these diseases: Forgiveness.
