The incident took place when the employees of the company whose office had been set up recently at Shah Market dealing in real estate business were going to deposit the claimed amount to Punjab National Bank, Kunraghat.
One of the employees of the company Deep Chant sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the district hospital from where he was referred to BRD Medical College where his condition is reported to be critical while the condition of another injured was stated to be stable.
Senior police officials along with SSP Raja Srivastav rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation and directed the subordinate to arrest the miscreant soon.
According to reports, the company is in the business of purchasing land from the farmers and providing them with employment in exchange along with money.
On Wednesday, the two employees of the company Deep Chand Sharma and Ramakant Chauhan were going to deposit the amount at Kunraghat. As they came out from the main gate of Shahi Market on their motorcycles, the miscreants who were probably waiting for them stopped the employees.
Without any provocation, one of them opened fire on Deep Chand while another snatched the bag full of cash and ran towards the motorcycle parked in a lane.
According to eye witnesses, as the miscreants were rushing towards the motobike, Suraj, a waiter at Vaishno Hotel also on Cinema Road collided with the miscreants. Fearing that Suraj has come to nab them, they opened fire on him too. This created panic in the market and the traders pulled down their shutters.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and appealed to the traders to open the shop. Police have detained Ramakant Chauhan and were interrogating him.
While the owner of the office Nand Kishor claimed that there was Rs 20 lakh in the bag few others said there was only Rs 6 lakh in the bag.
