Mishap victim?s kin protest

ANGRY RELATIVES and friends of Shiv Kumar, who died in a road mishap, staged a road blockade in front of the Govindpura police station on Thursday.

They were demanding compensation for the kin of victim and job for his wife. Shiv Kumar, 24, was riding with his brother Dharmendra on a cycle on June 27 when a scooter hit the cycle.

The brothers were injured and rushed to the hospital where Shiv succumbed to the injuries today. His family members, relatives and friends staged a road blockade today.

They alleged that three persons were riding the scooter that had hit Shiv. The police have arrested the scooter rider, Ranjeet, a resident of Sonagiri, for negligence leading to death.

Meanwhile, vehicular traffic was disrupted on the road on both sides due to the chakka jam. Officials of the district administration reached the spot and after much persuasion the demonstrators left the spot.

The demonstrators were demanding a compensation of Rs 10 lakh. They accused the scooter-rider of being responsible for Shiv’s death and demanding that a case of intentional killing be registered. The deceased is survived by his wife and two children.
